J.H. McKenzie Electrical Contractors was first established in 1942 and has operated primarily in Edmonton and the surrounding areas for the past 8 decades. James Harvey McKenzie originally founded the company, who started initially by teaming up with home builders and developers to do the electrical work required for their projects, eventually moving into the commercial and industrial sectors in the late 1950’s. The company has been involved in hundreds of projects throughout the decades and in its current form, performs maintenance for many commercial and industrial industries and performs electrical construction installations for the commercial and industrial industries throughout Edmonton and surrounding areas.

We employ master electricians with many years of experience in the roles of project managers, estimators, and in our service department, which helps to maintain our high-quality standards. We utilize this skill in a team-friendly environment to ensure projects are completed with the highest quality of workmanship and on time. Our clients can have peace of mind knowing that we value the investment they have made in their project and will do everything within our power to ensure a successful project.

J.H. McKenzie Electrical Contactors has enjoyed a relationship with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 424 since the 1950s and currently employs over twenty-five full-time staff and members of the union. Through this relationship the company has managed to benefit from many things that have come out of this long-term relationship such as training that our highly skilled workers receive from the various programs offered by IBEW. The training centre at the IBEW These are programs such as conduit bending, hoisting & rigging, first aid and safety training.

Our Health & safety program continues to contribute to a safe workplace for all employees and has ensured that there has never been a serious injury or permanently injured worker over the last 8 decades. Never compromising on worker safety is and has always been priority number one priority and that continues today. Our motto continues to be that if a job is not safe, then it does not get done until it is safe. Following daily procedures and assessments on a regular basis helps to create a safety culture where everyone has a voice and can share their concerns and opinions, which encourages workers to think about potential hazards before accidents can occur.
